The 2011 Gloaming Stakes was set to be a race made for Strike The Stars as the impressive three year old looked to break his maiden after competing valiantly in open grade.
In the end that’s exactly what happened with Hugh Bowman riding a patient race to unleash him late in the piece and score a convincing win.
It was far from the best trip in running as he settled just off the back of the field and let the pace be set for him up front.
It wasn’t the quickest race in history but at the same time there was just enough to ensure he would get a crack if good enough.
As the straightened he was still at the tail fo the field and Bowman switched back to the inside to try and push through for a run.
No doubt favourite backers were a bit anxious two furlongs form home but eventually the run presented itself and the horse was good enough to get home by nearly a length.
Doctor Doom was impressive running on late to score second spot while King’s Pact picked up third at decent odds from All Serene which ran well above expectations for fourth at 200 to 1.
As you can imagine the first four payed quite nicely with that inclusion and if you were lucky enough to get on it at Luxbet you’d be in a very good spot.
If you missed out the only way to make amends is to register an account now and ensure you’re in it to win it when feature racing returns to Luxbet this weekend!
